Back again with a Camp America post. Things are starting to look up and move forward as my DBS certificate arrived and the government announced a traffic light system for travel. Travel is still only permitted for work purposes but I believe the J1 Visa falls under this act. However, we are now waiting for the US Embassy to open up applications and interviews. It is all feeling quite surreal and I'm feeling pretty nervous as I want everything to be ok- which i'm sure it will be.
For now I can't do much more except wait for my visa pack through the post, so until then i'm creating videos helping you guys or anyone you know interested in camp with some application videos to give some advice, tips and tricks for next year!
This latest video is all about making the best video to enhance your application! I have some top tips that I made sure I did in my camp video which helped me get placed! Here are my top 10 tips but also head over to my youtube channel for a more in depth chat!
Don't be scared! The camera is your friend.
Get all your thoughts and feelings down on paper first, make sure you get everything you want to say in the video!
Find a location to film- could be your bedroom or out and about as a vlog!
Film on anything whether it's your phone or camera!
Make sure it is Landscape!
Add in actual footage of you doing the activities/hobbies you love as it shows you and your talents off!
Short and Snappy!! Get your point across while keeping the attention of the camp directors!
If you use background music, make sure it is royalty free so there aren't any copyright claims and also keep it at a minimal volume so those watching can hear you!
Double check your editing so it plays smoothly
Finally if you miss anything out while filming and editing- go back and add it in, that might just be what gets you placed!
I have filmed a video going into more depth about making you application video so be sure to give that a watch as well!
