CAMP AMERICA: Application and Interview

Hello everyone! It's been a little while but an exciting few months despite lockdowns and should I even say the word? Covid. Throughout the last year I have been working on my Camp America application in the hopes that this summer i'll get to work on an American camp and have the experience of a lifetime! Since writing this first paragraph, I have been placed and will be attending camp in New York as a Photography Specialist!
Firstly the application costs £45 which is non refundable however the likelihood of getting placed is so high so put that damn application in, you know you want too! I am pretty sure applications for summer 2022 are open now or at least the opportunity to register so there is plenty of time to work on your application!
Once I had submitted my own application I had an interview with the Camp America team and as covid stopped us from meeting people in real life, I opted in for a zoom meeting and it went really well. It was super relaxed and more of a chat rather than a formal interview. My interviewer then wrote a letter of recommendation and sent it off for the camps to see.
A little while later, August 24th rolls around and I received an email from a camp notifying me of their interest and offered me an interview- to which I responded YES! I spent the next few days practising and researching what I was going to say but the time came and it went super well. I was offered the role of photography specialist at a day camp in New York which is perfect for me.
From there on I just followed the next steps on the Camp America portal and paid the rest of my fees. As of right now I only have two payments left and that includes my medical insurance and my visa.
I will update more as my journey continues but if you head over to my youtube channel there will be plenty of content coming to you on Wednesdays and Sundays including videos about Camp America from applying to future vlogs and more!
XOXO - Laura Ann
